REQUEST FOR WORKBAGS AND SEWING KITS
UTHANDO PROJECT
UTHANDO PROJECT
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR SEWING KITS FOR KWAZULU-NATAL.
Hello dear Dollmakers,
Our request to have all the sewing materials donated for the women of KwaZulu-Natal to learn dollmaking is going EXTREMELY WELL.
Out of 120 large sewing bags, the size of a Coles green bag,
we need only 44 more.
Out of an amazing total of 744 sewing kits we have 514, so
we need 230 sewing kit holdalls.
These are based on a folded piece of material A4 in size with a strip of felt sewn in to take needles and pins. See previous newsletter.
For the sewing tool ingredients in these kits we have sufficient scissors (unless they are large dressmaking scissors).
What we need are
balls of black wool,
lots of safety pins,
thin elastic and
packets of crewel needles.
If you are able to give quantities of these ingredients or bags, please email Anne Bell
abell@aapt.net.au
Now, we are bringing the shipment date forward so that these dolls and the workbags will arrive in plenty of time before our dollmaking team leaves for Durban. Our flight has been brought forward to leaving Oct 15th.
We will pack as many dolls as possible with the workbags and sewing kits next Friday 22nd, with stragglers being packed on Monday 25 final final final..
If you have sewing kits and bags and dolls on the “nearly finished” list, please do your best to get them to me in time.
It is very thrilling to see how so many Uthando people have responded to this call for workbags and dolls. Estimated 1300 dolls ready to go. Picture the children with their own doll and their granny or mother with a beautiful workbag and sewing kits to teach another 5 women.
Thankyou everyone for helping so smoothly and generously.
Best wishes from Georgia, Joy and the Uthando team.
