Shit's Cool!

Yes. It's come to the attention of quite a few people that shit's cool. When asked about this rumour a local anglican minister whilst playing table tennis bleated 'can't you see I'm playing table tennis' 'yeah, can't you see it's quite a good game' squeaked his young friend.

The premise of the story is that some ministers play table tennis and they do have non dubious young friends ie. Even in this incredibly trivial fictional narrative - Shit's Cool!

From all us busy fun time purveyors at Cool Perth NIghts, sure you may or may not be religious and if you are, your religion may or may not value the apparent megastar Jesus and his alleged divine position in the narrative of the human universe. We at Cool Perth Nights know that if you asked any of the prophets how important they are they'd say less important that anyone dying in their honour. So even in that sense shit's cool or, at least we're telling you that it could be according to the original master tapes, which at this stage are being held by MIchael Jackson estate holders ..or somebody like that!

Be you with family or without, whether you value it for religious, family or other reasons, or if you are quite indifferent to it, Christmas is a symbolic time, so if you're feeling lonely just read this again instead of having another of your favourite poison and feel the deeper sense of things - that being that you know somebody that cares and that they are more than likely alive and breathing - rather than an archaic adults imaginary friend somehow carried through to 2009 like a pointless baton - what we're saying is don't talk to the stars and don't sedate what you've got to say or do this Christams. You know who cares out there and if you don't then write back to us - we'll at least tell you where the next substantially good party is and we'll try to get your name on the door!

Stu Orchard launches Uneven EP at the Norfolk tomorrow night.

Saturday December 19, Stu Orchard launches his Uneven LP at the Norfolk Basement. It's been a couple of years and Orchard has been recording in various formats and styles for his latest work. Drum machines, synths, samples and electro bleeps feature on tracks like The Silence, Delinquent and Funny Sometimes. There are, also, straight up rock tracks in Kitten in a Mirror and You Make Me Sick. The title track, Uneven Seagulls, is boppy and quirky at best and straight out weird at worst. As well, as one of his most popular songs, Muse, normally a ballad, has been beatsified too. Against all sane advice, Orchard chooses to jam all this under the one banner, being indicative of his experimental approach. He reckons short attention spans and broad taste in music will easily cope with the variety.

The Uneven EP will launch with full bells and whistles including five-piece band and dance electronics. Orchard has recruited some familiar faces to join him: Ben Gray on Bass, Ben Stacy on Drums, Bucko on Electric Guitar and Angus Money on Keys and Saxophone. It will be his first shot at combining electro tracks with more regular solo or rockband set ups. I wonder, how could it turn out on the night? The unique punk of The Moltens are in support, plus thumping reggaeton and dancehall from DJ Benny L.

“Shucking an oyster with Jerry Fraser is the sort of experience that could make a woman blush”

It’s all to do with the delicate way he prises open the rough shell to reveal a perfect, plump, succulent oyster. It’s the way he turns what could be an awkward, ungainly and somewhat dangerous task into a sensuous, highly dramatic piece of yummy stuff.
