Mailout Soundtrack

Kill Devil Hills ticket giveaway..

Those troubadours of whiskey born knowledge, dem hairy heartbreakers the Kill devil Hills are playing a show next Saturday and we've got a double pass for the first to reply to wetpaint@coolperthnights.com with KDH @ Mojos in the subject line.

This week:

Tahlia Palmer loses her mind doing research on totally gross things.

Lyndon Blue takes a walk down the street and into the cinema with Banksy.

& Christopher Isaacs decides that Stephen Lee's direction of Loot isn't at the pace that Joe Orton's work must be.

Today's mailout soundtrack comes from Puta Madre Brothers. Their new album Queso Y Cojones is VERY fun. Cick on theaeroplane to hear them.

Reviews with Lyndon Blue

EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP’ – A BANKSY FILM @ LUNA CINEMAS, LEEDY

Not heard of Banksy? Chances are he’s already stenciled the giant rock you’ve been living under. For over a decade, the enigmatic Bristol artist has been been garnering a reputation as a notorious prankster and the most influential graffiti maker in the world, lining public walls with cheeky stencilled imagery, hijacking art galleries

in the black box with Christopher Isaacs

Loot Directed by Stephen Lee - show not quite a steal ..

English writer Joe Orton was found dead in his bed in 1967, his head beaten in by friend and lover Kenneth Halliwell. In a brief career spanning four years Orton produced some of the most successful and flamboyant plays of the 60’s. Among Entertaining Mister Sloan and What the Butler Saw Orton’s most well received work of his time was Loot. Class Act Theatre’s production of this slightly dated play occasionally met the farcical nature of the late writer’s work.

Profs and Pints - The Changing Face of Security

The Flying Scotsman Velvet Lounge

FREE evenings of lively banter that will engage curiosity, spark debate, and quite possibly blow your mind! Join a wide range of top thinkers and have your say about science and technology.

The Changing Face of Security - 29th June
How have technology and censorship revolutionised the terror game?
Ass/Prof Rajat Ganguly (Murdoch), Ass/Prof Ba-Tuong Vo (UWA), Dr Andrew Woodward (ECU), CyberTech

Amid the technological advances across the globe, the face of security and terrorism is constant changing. Quite frequently we see limits imposed on our freedom in the name of security.

However, there is a question about how much of what is put in place is really improving security, and how much is security theatre.

Kosmic Sound & Jack Daniels Mojos Rising

A Happening at Mojos Bar, North Fremantle

Kosmic Sound & Jack Daniels Mojo Rising is full steam ahead! So far the winners of the first three heats are Sugarpuss, the Spitfires & James Teague (pictured right)!

These night have been extremely fun as the bands are playing casually rather than with a competitive mind set. This can be attributed to Justim Walshe’s disarming MC style – the guy is absolutely hilarious – he should win! Anyway.. Next Tuesday Auto suggestion, Georgi kay, the moltens & the love junkies have a crack at it! Get down it’s fun!

Mojo Rising Entrants are all in the running to record with Blackbird engineer/producer Dave Parkin. Dave is at the stage of his recording career where he chooses who he works with so the winner of this comp will be recording at a quality that they would not otherwise be able to. This is really important for a band! Kosmic are kicking in a $1,500 gift voucher to sweeten the deal for the first place getter.

PICA's Winter Exhibitions

loads coming up at pica ..

PICA is pleased to present three exciting new exhibitions over the winter months.

Rounds is a group exhibition, featuring works by some of Western Australia's most exciting young artists. Curated by Sarah Rowbottam, this exhibition takes over PICA's ground floor and deals with the idea of peer influence.

Upstairs in the Westend Gallery is a solo exhibition by respected WA artist Bevan Honey, which include massive structures knitted out of cray pots, drawings and a burn-out machine!

In the screen space is the first ever screening in Australia of Spanish/German artist Ignacio Uriate's work: The History of the Typewriter Recited by Michael Winslow. Winslow may be familiar to some as the star of the 80s Police Academy films with the unique 'sound effects' talent. This film is accompanied by a series of prints.

i demand to know the dates of these exhibitions!
