Dolls for the Children of KwaZulu-Natal
Dear Dollmakers and Friends,
You are happily invited to the launching of
our new Uthando Project film on DVD,
“Goodness and Happiness, Sisters in KwaZulu-Natal”.
It is filmed, directed and edited by Natalija Brunovs.
It will be shown in two sessions as part of the
International Women’s Day celebrations
arranged through the Dept of Communities,
Office of Women’s Policy at
Central TAFE, 140 Royal St, EastPerth.
Sunday 8th March.
First session at 12.30 finish 1.30pm
Second session at 1.45pm finish 3pm
There will be a small display of Uthando Project’s work
downstairs, with 30 other organisations.
The film will be shown in lecture room A236 upstairs.
Admission is free.
If you would like to buy a copy of the DVD, $10.
The film speaks to everyone.
Please show it to family, friends, groups, schools and networks.
Our programme will introduce the project, see the film,
meet the film maker and a forum of the women who
travelled with Nat Brunovs to KwaZulu-Natal in October.
The film is 9 minutes of treasured images from
hours of filming by Nat, assisted by Dr Julie Stone.
It is tender, realistic, moving and pure.
Two Zulu sisters, named Goodness and Happiness,
are adjusting to life after the death of their mother.
Goodness learns how to make a doll at one of
our rural workshops.
We glimpse the magnitude of the effects on her sister and
the women at the Uthando workshop where we are in
partnership with
TREE, (Training and Resources in Early Education) and
RobS (Rob Smetherham Bereavement Services for Children).
Please come and invite others.
