SPECIAL NEWSLETTER WESTERN AUSTRALIAN DOLLMAKERS
OCTOBER 2010
Dear West Australian dollmakers and friends,
This is a Special Newsletter to invite you to three Uthando events over the next seven weeks.
Please read, come and let others know that they are most welcome to join in too.
KALAMUNDA ZIGZAG FESTIVAL, STIRK PARK, SUNDAY OCTOBER 31, 11 – 4PM.
Uthando will have a strong presence at this very popular festival, this year called, Stirk de Soleil!!!!
We welcome dolls clothing designed for our Uthando dolls for children to dress the naked dolls. These dolls all go to African children. The children love dressing them and packing them away. This is a Free event so parents may like to respond by Sponsoring a Doll ($10) with a Wish Tag written on “their” doll
To raise funds we will have our doll kits ($5), new greeting cards pack ($10) and some special dolls made to buy @ $20 and $40. It is a good idea for Australian children to have an “African” inspired doll.
Please deliver any finished dolls and give a hand if you are not enticed away by all the lovely stalls.
This is a major event for Uthando and spreads the word.
GARDEN PARTY AFTERNOON AT GEORGIA’S, SUNDAY NOVEMBER 28, 2 – 5PM
It seemed a good idea at the time, but the weeding regime is bit overpowering at the moment.
Enjoy an afternoon in Peter and Georgia Efford’s garden, 2 Healey Place, Gooseberry Hill.
(Park on one side of the road only).
The idea is for children to take a couple of dolls on a picnic where they choose in the garden. Ingredients for little party/picnic foods will be available. Children may borrow Uthando dolls. Keep in mind that there is unfenced deepish water in the garden, so it could be dangerous for unwatched toddlers or non-swimmers. This is YOUR responsibility.
The extraordinary Munchkin Puppets who engage all ages will be here, courtesy Jenn Maughan.
African music too.
- Meanwhile there will be good coffee, tea, scones etc.
- Display of dolls. Deliver your finished dolls.
- Jumble sale stall, bring and buy if you like.
- All our Uthando fundraising products for sale.
- We truly hope that our Uthando Tea Parties Recipe book will be published by then. Irresistible for everyone’s Christmas present @$10.
- Long lengths of donated fabric for sale at ridiculous prices (too good to cut up for dolls’ clothing)
- Lots of lovely herbs and cottage plants to buy.
- Take time to stroll through the garden with a friend. Even if it is hot, it is a shady place.
PLEASE RSVP TO GEORGIA 9293 2363 OR EMAIL georgia1@iinet.net.au by Wed 24th November so we don’t run out of scones!!!
